The program was divided into two parts: in-class presentation and discussion and field visit. In the first part, participants were involved in the discussion of such issues as BRI Microbanking policies and practices (micro credit operation, risk management, and internal control), BRI Human Resources Management (organization structure, recruitment and selection process, promotion, career path, compensation and benefits, and performance appraisal system), and BRI Training and Development (training policies and management, training needs analysis, curriculum design and development, training methodology, instructor’s qualifications, program evaluation, and e-learning).

The second part of the program, the field visits, was intended to enable the participants to see for themselves BRI’s offices and clients. Participants had enough time to visit BRI Regional Office in Yogyakarta, BRI Sleman Branch Office, BRI Unit Jombor and its borrower, as well as BRI Yogyakarta Training Center. In addition, they also had opportunity to have a close look at the biggest temple in the world, the Borobudur Temple—one of the Seven Wonders of the world.

The following are participants’ comments about the program:
• Microfinance is profitable and could uphold a national wide bank
• BRI’s success impressed everyone: the clear strategy, simple products, systematic training system
• During the communication with BRI staff, everyone shows the dedication to work and prides of being one of BRI Staff.
• BRI is already a modern commercial bank rather than a microfinance institution with standardized management mechanism, advanced training center and training organization.
